  1. Does anyone know what brand of product Dodge/Chrylser puts in their video systems? Also wanted to know if anyone had gotten any DVD formats to work in this system?

I own a 2003 Dodge Grand Caravan with the stock DVD video system.

    Hello,
I don't know yet. My family is leasing a Chrysler Pacifica with a dvd player. I'm sure the players are the same for both. I'm going to test both dvd+,-r. I'm hoping to backup some tapes for summer trips . I'll post back here to let you know how it turns out. I'll also list the media type (I have a couple of brands of both). Here's hoping!

    Hello,
No problem. I'll try to test them tonight. I can't imagine they won't play EITHER format + or - r. Well, I'll see (I also have some vcds to check, I don't think I have any svcds handy). I'll also list if it was a dvd rip, which program, or a video capture. Wish me luck.

    Hello,
    TEST RESULTS ARE IN!!!

These are the results for the dvd (stock) player of the 2004 Pacifica

    The BAD NEWS:
VCD - cdr - NO = error won't play at all
SVCD -cdrw- NO = error won't play at all
VCD - Professional (import Empire Strikes Back) = NO - error won't play

    The GOOD NEWS:

    DVD-R (settop recorder) = OK!!
DVD+R (Imation brand) vhs capture = OK!!
DVD-R (khypermedia) dvd rip with dvdshrink = OK!!! (full dvd5-dvd5)
DVD+R (imation) dvdrip with dvdshrink = OK!! (movie only)

This is great news! We can go ahead and backup and play our stuff on the car dvd systems. Now, I assume the 2003 and 2004 models use the same dvd player. If they don't or you are worried I could take a picture and post it here for comparisons (I don't know how to look up model numbers for car units).

Have fun and enjoy the summer. This should make those looong car trips a little more fun. Especially now that we can play our own homemade dvds !!

P.S. The settop dvd-r took a long time to load but did play. Also, the dvd-r starlogic (compusa brand?) took awhile as well. I didn't test out a dvd+rw but I imagine it will work.
Bottom line, all burned dvd's should work just be patient as there may be a loading delay.

Does anybody know what type of DVD player (6x changer) is used in the 2004 Pacifica and how to hack the region code?
