    Hi,
    I 've a question.
my car has a cd player, plays CDs with mp3 files in it. If i write the mp3 files onto a dvd and try to play them in the car, will they play?
The same question applies to the dvd players or any music systems.
would appreciate if anyone can answer this question.
    Thanks.

A CD player will not play DVDs, be it a car CD player, or HiFi CD player. If it doesn't carry the DVD logo, it won't read the disc.
    Read my blog here.

  3. Let me think about it a minute.

    No,

    Oh wait.....

    No,

    Oh wait....

    No,

Do CD's play on a toaster? :P er.... No, but a DVD will play in a DVD player. DVD drives and CD drives use different lasers that burn and read data at different wavelengths.

  4. Well let me put it a little technically- though both CD and DVD may contain mp3 e not written similarly. Hence unless it is mentioned explicitly a CD player can not play a DVD player because it does not "know" the DVD file system.

Knowing the "the DVD file system" has nothing to do with it!!

Read the last sentence of what Dv8ted2 wrote!!
    Same goes for playback!!

If a CD player could read a DVD, it would be called a DVD player NOT a CD player!!

This is getting to be more common of a Q then "why won't my CD burner recognize and burn DVD-R's?"

Just convert/transfer the MP3s to CD media. Or replace the car player with one that can handle DVD media.

Also a number of devices will only recognise mp3s on a CD and not on a DVD, even if they can play "store-bought" or burnt DVDs.
    If in doubt, Google it.

They also will not play on your ceiling fan, no matter how hard you try.

Now you know the difference between Doom9 and ViDEOHelp:
At Doom9 you would be insulted and derided for not knowing the answer before asking the question.
Here you are merely patronized for not knowing the answer.

Or ignored. There's always some possibility of that happening at Doom9.

There is a difference between slamming someone the very first time, or after them asking the same question 20 times and being given the same answer 20 times because they are to thick to understand that 2+2 = 4

It will try to play the disc, but the laser will get too hot and melt it - the plastic will fuse to the lens assembly and eventually catch fire. I don't think that your insurance company will cover this.

  17. The player will spontaneously combust from the force of the disc spinning that cannot be read, but before the player catches on fire, the disc will fly out and shatter into a million pieces. You could try playing it on etch a sketch toys -

I think you are all very cruel, unkind, mean and nasty. This question probably comes from
a poor child whose parents believed that peanut butter and jelly sandwitches would play in a vcr,
    have some pitty.

He maybe an adult but the damage was done as a child.
I think the next thing that we will be reading about is the guy that modified his cd player to play dvds.

But seriously where does this stuff come from?

He would need to add a second laser to the drive and change out other parts, which is highly doubtful. He would just buy a dvd player.
