My apple ibook all of the sudden cannot read video DVD's. I receive a error saying "The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer," and my only options are to ignore or eject the disk. Any help?

It's common for one function of an optical drive to go first.
You may have a dying drive.
But before going to the shop, try a CD/DVD laser lens
cleaner. Apple doesn't recommend them for slot loaders,
but what do you have to lose?Al Bloom -
Have you tried different discs? Try factory-pressed CDs/DVDs first. If it can't even read those, then you do have a bad problem. If it's ok with factory-pressed ones, move on to experimenting with CDR/DVD-R/DVD+R/CDRW from different vendors, to see which cause problems.
