Hello, I'm having an issue. I'm having a Silva-Scheinder HDD/DVD 160 GB Recorder HDR 8160. I usually burn videos to watch on DVD, I have used TDK and Maxell data/video discs and the thing is, when I burn freshly some videos to a blank disc, it reads finely but when I add some videos later on em it won't read those, no sign of the files at all except the first burned videos and this happens every time, when I burn more files on an old disc. So I can only watch the files I burned for the first time, no matter how many times I have burned more files on the disc. My comp reads every file perfectly though and TDK data/video discs are used by my friend too, he doesn't encounter that problem . For the software I use the latest nero program, which should be fine too. I hope I can see the light finally for this problem because I have been troubling with that issue over a year already. Best wishes, I. H.

Yeah, that's right. My friend does the same with the same kind of TDK data/video discs and his ordinary DVD player reads the files very well that he burns more on a multi-session disc. To be more specific I generally use TDK video/data discs , from nero I make a data DVD disc, where I add avi DIVX files, which my DVD recorder supports, so when I burn for a first time to a blank disc it reads the files, when I later add avi files , then no sign of em at all except, when I play on my comp.

It's not uncommon for some players to have problems with multi-session discs and not read the additional sessions at all - in fact, some don't bother to read multi-session discs altogether. Does the manual for the recorder mention that it supports multi-session?
If cameras add ten pounds, why would people want to eat them? -
Some DVD players will only the read the first session on a multi-session disc, some will only read the last session and a few rare players will read all sessions or none. This is a well known problem. The solution? Don't burn multi-session discs! Problem solved.

There's no word at all on the manual for the multi-session support.. but I see there's a list of recommended brands for each type of DVD disc... like Verbatim, Ricoh, Mitsubishi for DVD+R etc.. I try to create a multi-session on a recommended brand and see what happens.. it could be the case I believe... but thanks for the information guys, I appreciate it.
