I have an avi file of my daughter playing her clarinet.
I want to extract the audio to an MP3 file.

What is the easiest/best way to do this?

I tried using Virtualdub, but I could only figure out how to create a WAV file.

I'm a real newbie to mp3 so it's got to be easy...

Thanks for any help you can give me.

  2. Download the demo version of GoldWave.

Open the AVI file in GoldWave, the select file->Save As and select MP3 from the drop-down list. Give it a filename and save. Very easy.

If it's already a MP3, you can demux it and save it that way with VD. If it's a different format, then saving as a WAV and converting to MP3 is another option. You can use Audacity to convert a WAV to MP3 with the addition of the Lame MP3 codec.

I use VirtualDub Mod as it seems to handle audio formats easier than the regular VirtualDub.
