is it possible to use 80min mini disks for vcd's
instead of the standard size.
Would they play in my dvd player?.

If you are referring to "mini discs" as in the audio "MD" format originally created by Sony, then the answer is no.
If you are referring to 8cm diameter CD-R/W discs, they do not come in 80min/700MB capacities. They come in ?21min/180MB capacities. Assuming you burn a VCD image on these discs (of the appropriate size of course), then they should play in a stand-alone VCD/DVD player.
