    Hello,

    Greetings from Mysore, India!

I recently bought a Sony Handycam Digital Video Camera Recorder DVD 605-E. I wish to know how to edit the DVD, after finalisation, using a PC. What programme, preferably a freeware, should I use?

I would appreciate and be thankful for any suggestions.

Vob2mpg and select the video_ts folder on the dvd and convert to a mpg file.
Open the mpg in windows movie maker (you need a mpeg2 decoder).

If you just want to do basic editing, cut, join, you can use dvd shrink in reauthoring mode to cut out clips.

Other dvd/mpeg2 editing tools: videoredo, mpeg video wizard, tmpgenc dvd author, ulead dvd moviefactory, ulead dvd workshop.

You can skip Baldrick's first step, the Vob2Mpg by using the DVD Viewer program that ships with the camera. This will transfer your recorded clips as individual mpegs.

    I use mpeg-vcr for editing.
