    Hello,

I just registered after reading the helpful information, especially from people like LordSmurf, Johnny Malaria and the Zombie Guy.

First, I would like to build another computer with Windows XP 32-bit for subtitles
and light video editing. I’m thinking 2 GB memory with a 74 GB Raptor C and for video storage 500 GB. Note: I’m going to use this for VirtualDub Mod and other programs since it’s stable.

Secondly, I’ve been reading quite a bit about the upcoming OS Leopard this coming spring. I recently have been getting 3D animation and I hear Macs are excellent for video and with a Nvidia 4500 Quadro would be great since it’s 64 bit. Nevertheless, it’s going to be very expensive.

Lastly, I would also prefer a SDI capture card, but I don’t know which system to install it on. I hear Black Magic Decklink Pro is excellent. However, I work with Adobe Premiere Pro and Aja’s Xena HS works with PP as well as CineForm.

You think I should get Decklink Pro or Xena HS? Get a Mac Pro since it’s not expensive now or wait for Leopard?

    Thanks.

For your first topic, 2 GB would be plenty, in most cases (depending on your application usage), 1GB would be sufficient. There also would be no need to spend extra on a Raptor drive, just get a 16MB buffer SATA drive and save some cash.
