Has anyone managed to get the CyberTainment CyberMail AV card working under 2000? i've tried the win2k drivers that were posted on the compgeeks site and no go. i've also tried some generic 878 drivers and some tweaked WDM 878 drivers and nothing sticks. when i first install it and boot 2000 it identifies it as just a "PCI Card". i'm going to swap it into a different PCI slot and remove some PCI cards but any thoughts would help.

    Consider upgrading to Windows 98.

  5. Thanks for the reference, but unfortunately, in this case all I have are the same W2K drivers from the compgeeks site as well. My next thought would be to try the tweaked (generic) drivers from that one Russian site (Ivan's drivers). Looks like suspect has already linked to it.

I haven't tinked with W2K much at all other than a bit on a laptop here at work. I'd never recommend it for home use so I try to stay as oblivious to the W2K driver and hardware incompatibility nightmares as possible. Windows XP ought to be a good compromise though, and I do plan on giving that a try when it comes out.

Good luck! With my LIMITED experience with W2K, you'll need it...

  6. I've tried them all i think, even Ivan's, and nothing works. Can't upgrade to Win98 cause i got a dual cpu's and all 6 HD's are NTFS formatted and i'm not willing to use FAT32. So looks like i'll be trying my copy of WinXP that I've been putting off installing. Will let you all know if i can get that working.

  7. i REALLY wish i could remember where i got the tweaked drivers, but somehow after a long time i got it working, however, theres all i kinds of probs, cant capture in high-res (its not that it drops frames it just wont let me) plus i cant select input (vid1 only)

  8. I finally got my CyberAv card + camera (no mic) the other day.

I threw it in my last PCI slot that I think is shared with the ISA slot thats next to it. (old BX 6.2 mobo)

I turned on the power & it didn't even post, so I reseated the card and it worked. I downloaded & installed the win2k drivers from compgeeks(?) along with the software that was on it.

Switched to overlay mode in the software and the picture came up running fine, switched to "preview" mode and the framerate was like 6fps...so capturing was the same speed. (I don't have the cable for the audio yet, so sound is disabled).....Tried VirtualDub and had the same low fps in preview mode. Tried capturing for the fun of it, of course it said it dropped tons of frames, cpu load was at like 10% or so.

Theres like 2 or 3 settings in the software the win2k drivers came with and nothing changed the low framerate problem, So I uninstalled from device manager etc etc, reinstalled the drivers and it still was messed up, for fun I tried the win95/98 drivers, and of course it didnt even work.

I noticed that the card was on IRQ 11 that is being shared with other things

    Win2k doesn't let me change IRQ's so....not much I can do.

Finally after messing around more (hehe), the CyberAV doesnt even get recognized by its own software or Virtual dub. The device manager lists them as working properly etc etc. Reinstalling the drivers does nothing to get it "recognized".

    Im on a P3 750, bx6.2, 7200rpm drive @ udma/33 (udma is eneabled in win2k to), 300watt powersupply.

Oh yeah, I was using the default 320x240(?) mode, I tried switching to 640x480 but that just produced a green screen (no picture). I tried switching to other video formats in virtual dub and all of them except RGB came back as saying "not supported" or something.

So Im just thinking of installing win98 again then win2k, or maybe taking some pci card out and putting the cyberAv in its slot or something.
