Can Mpg4 work with every dvd player - prehistoristic and new?

I read that it can give you 10 hours of video on dvd and 2 hours of video on cd. I think that's great.

If it can, is there any authoring programs that are similar to DVD Lab pro that can manipulate mp4? The reason i asked is, when i compile a project with dvd lab pro, it puts the output in a folder and then i burn the folder with nero and it works. However, whenever i try to tell it to burn the dvd itself, it doesn't work. It's very similar with Sony Dvd architect. If i have to switch apps in order to use the mpg4 format then i would. It's just that the app has to be capable of doing that.

No. And for 99.9% of the players which support mpg4 (in the shape of DivX/XviD AVI) they can't be autored at all, just written as data to the disk.
A few DivX Ultra certified players allow you to author (of sorts) using the DivX container, with DivX Media builder.
