i use sony120 handycam, and want to know what fast captureing device and software to use to make good quality DVDs and VCDs.

biggest thing is a proper hard drive, any SATA that is 120Gb is size should be ok, then any PCI firewire card to capture. There are many capture programs that you can use that are good.

To begin with, get used to the fact that transfer will be real-time. A 60 minute tape will take 60 minutes to transfer. If you transfer as DV is will also require approx 13 GB of HDD space per hour.
If the highest possible quality is your goal, you will then need space to encode to. A second drive for this is good.
If you are happy with good - OK quality, you could consider a real-time encoder - hardware assisted if possible.
If you just want good transfer, and aren't going to create complex menus and do a lot of editing, the simplest quality solution is a DVD Recorder with firewire and a HDD.Read my blog here.
