I recently recorded some highschool video projects onto a few dvd-r using my pioneer dvd-r recorder. Now I am looking to reedit and author these onto a dvd. From my limited understanding i am to demultiplex the dvd to convert it into a mpg file so I can edit it. I tried this the first time using dvd decriptor and it worked perfectly making mpg files with both audio and video that i loaded to mt editing software(vegas). I tried it again and all it gave me was some video files and one audio track. how do i do this again or the right way. or is there some crazy alternative way to do this. I prefer using freware software being that I spent most my money on the dvd recorder and dvd burner I will use to make this.

dvd decrypter don't make mpgs. do you mean vob2mpg? or you can use dvd decrypter to make one vob file.
demultiplexing makes separate video and audio files. -

RIP with DVD Decrypter in IFO mode and select NO FILE SPLITTING and you will get one large VOB file.
Then open that VOB file into VideoRedo or MPEG-VCR and edit there. No re-encoding will be done except at the edit points (unless all of your edits are on "I" frames).
In the end you will get a MPEG file that is ready-to-author.
