I would like some suggestions for webcam (home use) based on these criteria (from most to least important):
1) A stable driver that doesn't crash, slow down, or change the behavior of my computer.
2) Picture quality and performance (i.e. speed)
3) Compatibility with MSN, YM, Skype, and perhaps other applications.
4) Below $100 (how much is not important as long as it's within my budget)
* I don't care about extra features like animated avatars, since I am more interested in the core performance and quality.
I just saw the OEM version of Logitech QuickCam Fusion selling for $45. It seems to be a good deal, but I still cannot decide because of the following questions.
I heard some nightmare stories about Logitech's webcam drivers (crashing, conflicting with other devices including scanner, installation problems, many small bugs, etc). I am very concern as I keep a very clean computer which I use for my living. Can someone tell me if these problems really do exist and how often do they occur?
And what are the pros and cons of CMOS and CCD sensors in webcam?
Thanks.
