Has anyone seen a speed inmprovement when they use seperate channels for hooking up there dvd readers or burners.
right now i have only 2 ide slots but i would like to add a 3rd dvd rom. but i dont have a free pci slot.
so would it be ok to do a master slave setup for dvd burner as master and dvd rom as slave.
or would this slow things down alot. i have done some tests but its too inconsistent.
any suggestions welcome.

Everything should run just fine. The only slowdown would result if you were attempting to use both drives that are on the same channel at the same time. As long as you are only using one at a time, everything will be fine.
Also, some dvd burners prefer to be master.Google is your Friend -
yeah thats what i thought i will have to work out something than.
thanks for the replay -
You will always get better results and less hassle be ripping/copying to the HD first anyway, in which case it only matters that the HD and burners are on seperate controllers.
