One very simple way to replace an audio track is with virtualdubmod. Open the avi, then click on Stream-Stream List. Click on Add, and browse to your new audio track. Select it and click OK. Click on the old audio track, click on Disable, then click OK. Click on File -> Save As and make sure you are in Direct Stream Copy mode. Save a new version of the avi with the new audio track.

Very easy. So long as the audio is identical (starts at the same place and has the same length). If it doesn't start at the same point, you will have to play with the skew. Again, in virtualdubmod, click on Streams -> Stream List. Right-click on the audio track, and choose Interleave. At the bottom is a section called Audio Skew. There is a field for a number in milliseconds. This is where you adjust the skew to fix audio sync problems. If the new audio starts too soon, use a positive number. If it starts late, use a negative number. Click OK, OK, then save a new version and test. Repeat until you have it right.

How you extract the audio you want from your RMVB file is up to you. I don't like the format, so I don't touch it if I can avoid it.
