i have a problem with renaming any files on my computer. when i rename a file i get error messaging saying that file will become unusable, and then i doesnt open anymore.

Do you see file extensions or not? If you do see them, than perhaps you are renaming whole file without the extension.

yeah like deadrats said.....control panel>folder options>view>make sure "Hide extensions for known file types" is clicked ^ ^ that way when you rename anything it keeps the same extension -
the error message comes to any file with any ext.
for example: rename file1.bmp to file1a.bmp, gives me the error every time.
thanx guys...i went into the folder option and check hide extensions, that did the trick....once again thanx!!!!
