    I have several short movie clips which I want to send by e-mail whats a good program to compress these down

    Since your profile shows you have XP SP2, why not try Windows Movie Maker. It's part of the package and is easy to use. It will even create the email for you!

    It can create quite acceptable files in .WMV format suitable for email.

    It's usually straight off of All Programs.

    If not, you can find it at "C:\Program Files\Movie Maker\moviemk.exe"
