  1. im trying to open a mpg in TMPGEnc. the video will open but the audio is AC3 and isnt opening. what codec do i need to open AC3 audio in TMPGEnc?

    Download and install the following:

    1.) AC3 Filter
    2.) AC3 ACM Decompressor

    Make sure you re-boot after you install.

    Also if you are encoding with TMPGEnc for DVD you should DEMUX/DEMULTIPLEX the AC-3 from your source file and in the end use the VIDEO output of TMPGEnc with that demuxed/demultiplexed AC-3 audio.

    Of course if you are using TMPGEnc to encode to VCD/SVCD then you need to convert to the proper audio format i.e., MP2 audio.

    You could try AC3 ACM Decompressor. I don't know if it will 'open' or just let you read it.

    If you are re-encoding to a different video format or setting in TMPGEnc, why mess with the audio at all? Just encode the video. If the AC3 is compliant with your re-encoded file, you could just mux it out and combine it back after the encode.
