Hi there, new to these forums but no to the site. Need some professional help from you.

I currently have an LG DVDRW drive. Used to burn alot of Benq DVD-R and Smartbuy DVD-R (orange and white ones) and they all burned flawlessly. Now i bought some spindles of the new smartbuys DVD-R (Metallic orange) since i couldnt find the old white/orange ones.

So with this new media, i burned some movies, like used around 50 of these 100 i bought. Now i burned other movies on the remaining media, and when i got to watch from those, there was a big part of those having a crc error. I checked some of those previous 50 and they also have crc errors on them, but not all.

Now what im asking is, have you had any problems with these media? I tried burning same stuff on some Benq and the old Smart Buys and the burn was perfect. This is why i think the dvdrw drive is still working fine.

    What are your opinions?

    Cheers

For in-store purchases of DVDrs, I use the Sony made in Japan DVDRs. These are probably the best DVDRs you can buy in most stores. Staples often has them on sale. I have 3 Benq writers. For online purchases, buy Taiyo Yuden DVDRs, they are the best. The Sony's are Taiyo Yudens.

I would DL DVDInfoPro or DVD Identifier and find who really made them. You should be able to check the media code for the manufacturer to the left in 'DVD Media', along with user comments about that media.

EDIT: Looks like it might be PRODISC. I used them in the past with good luck, but my newer burners seemed to have problems with some. Mainly the 8X.

I didn't try 16X, but went to TY media instead. Never had any problem with the 4X R- PRODISCs. But companies change manufacturers and quality may vary by batch.

Media Code is ProDiskF01. Alot of them ahve alot of CRC errors. Regarding online buying of the media, i dont have means to buy online at the moment, and if u had, not many companies ship to my country

It seems like as redwudz said, a bad batch, alot of friends are having these probs too...i have the 8x btw

You may want to try updating the firmware to a newer of hacked version if available. Otherwise, your only other choice is to switch to a different brand of disc.
