Today I got message my version of DVDInfoPro expired and need to download new version. When I try to run it after downloading and installing new version, I again get same message that it's expired and need to download new version. However, it says my version is up to date when I again go to download new version. What might cause this, and can anyone tell me a fix?

Do you have to pay everytime you update or does one payment cover any future updates up to the next major version?

It says in the install instructions to uninstall your old version first. Did you try that?

Old version was uninstalled first. Jtoolman2000, there's an ad supported free version that expires every 28 days which is the one I selected and the reason I got the initial expired notice.

Has nobody else had problems with DVDInfoPro ad supported free version, or have all gone to the full pay version?

Sounds like you MIGHT have accidently downloaded the Pay-version or something. Which can't be used unless you activate/pay for it....

I'd uninstall it, go back to the page, and make certain you download the free-ad ver.

Also could be possible that the website its from has not updated the downloadable version yet, and the old one that expired is still there. Pretty sure thats how it works, meaning they update each montly one with new ads.

Edit: oooh another thing: Does your computer have the correct date/time? If your comp has the wrong date, say a month ahead for some reason, the DVDINFOPRO will detect it as being expired then.....

PC has correct time and date, and I did make sure I selected the ad supported free version. Download is from DVDInfoPro home page which indicates something awry with the program. I even deleted the download and downloaded again in case fist download was corrupted but got same result.

Yes -- others have seen such problems, even with proper uninstalls / reinstalls. Check out the review comments in the Tools Section. The continuation of a "free" adware version seems to be dubious and misleading. Not to take anything away from from what has been a fine tool, but the extra features offered by DVDInfoPro -- such as reformatting a RW disc -- are things I already have covered by other tools.
I quickly got tired of the short expiry period, and inability to update it. Had the author not ticked me off with all this, it is very likely I would have sprung for the pay version, after a decent, hassle-free chance to evaluate it.

For the main purpose of DVDInfoPro, I am now using the truly free DVDIDENTIFIER instead.

I used DVDINFOPRO in the past, for scanning my discs for errors to make sure i got a good burn. I think its pretty reliable for that purpose.

Seeker47, does DVDIDENTIFIER give media info similar to DVDInfoPro which was my main use for DVDInfoPro?

Same problem here, with the free version.

First run stalls, then gives me a "expired" notice.
...then I get "your version is up to date"

I've tried 3 different installs (& uninstalls , including a powerdown after removal)
    ...something is really screwy.

I've been a fan for a couple of years, but now I'm looking for another proggy.

If you mean the basics, starting with the Media ID code, then Yes. I don't think it goes into as much detail as DVDInfoPro did (probably something there for the more advanced users), but I no longer have a viable installed DVDInfoPro to use for comparison.

Granted, and I forgot about that, because I seldom used it. But aren't there at least a couple other free tools that scan discs for errors reasonably well ? I know that Nero puts out one, though I don't know how well it is regarded. LordSmurf, what say you ?

Media code, whether media is blank and media free space as well as burner drive info are mainly what I used DVDInfoPro for. I'll give DVDIDENTIFIER a try.
