I am burning dvdrips onto dvds. I find many of them when played on my stand alond dvd player are distorted. Meaning blurry or the people seem real skinny like the fun house mirrors. Can anyone suggest a way to make this clearer? Thanks

Basically, you need to learn how to encode and author correctly.

As you don't say what software you use, I will assume it is one-click-crap. If you still want to take a one-click approach, try ConvertXtoDVD. It does a pretty god job, and is pretty reliable with most sources.

If you want to get more complicated, say so and I'll give you an alternative approach.

There is also the possibility that you don't have your DVD player set up correctly. Go into the setup menu and look for the section on screen format.

If you have a widescreen TV or a widescreen switchable 4:3, make sure you have widescreen -> 16:9 set as the TV type.

If you have a standard 4:3 TV, make sure you have widescreen -> letterbox set.

Do this and test some of the movies you have already done. Maybe they are OK after all.

Could you elaborate on your process?
    What do you start with?
When you say "I am using Nero to burn the dvdrips " do you actually mean just burn, or do you use Nero to convert the source (so far unknown) format to Video DVD format?
    Tried convertx2dvd as Guns1inger suggests?

Yes I am only using Nero to burn a downloaded dvdrip. I fine no place in nero to do any converting. Since this is all new to me I was not aware I needed to convert anything. I am trying convertx2dvd as suggested. I believe I have to purchase it to get the true effect as the trial has watermark.
