  1. Hi all,

Got a cheap DVD player - Umax/yamaha chili DVD-2400X - and trying to find a firmware upgrade for it. Converted some TV recordings with a newer Xvid source code and now parts of the programme have a random blocky effect. Anyone know of a available firmware upgrade for the above player, or somewhere i can go and search for one?

    Thanks

If there is one, it would be on the manufacturers website, many don't offer them.

Your best bet, would be to encode all your files into a format your player supports.

  3. Umax have a website, but don't list my model. I was wondering if i could flash the firmware of another, well supported DVD-player, abit like the sony/lite-on dvd-writers? And no website like the dangerous brothers for DVD-writers, only for standalone DVD-players instead?

I only persist, as i have deleated original mpeg2 files so will have to re-encode Xvid to older Xvid - something i want to avoid if possible for obvious reasons.

    Thanks for any more help

    Cheers

It will have to be firmware for your specific hardware. You can't just choose any at random.

Divx version usually isn't an issue, it is usually a matter of your files not meeting the specs you player requires.

Go to the DVD Players section, download and burn the test cd. You can then use it to see what file types your player supports.
