  1. Lately when i burn a data dvd off my brothers computer then bring it back to my computer. When i go to transfer i get some kind of redundency check error with some numbers following it. ill post it how it looks in a lil while cuz now the disc keeps making the computer NOT RESPOND when i try to transfer.

Now its not all the files that cause the error, only like 2 or 3 on a disc. i try using isobuster to get the files off, and when it gets to a point it gives a few sectors that it cant read. ill click ignore but then it never lets the file finish the program usually freezes up.

on a few occasions i got the files to work this way with isobuster and i had a few sectors that had errors but the file finish transfering to the computer and worked afterwards.

but right now i have 2 discs with 2 files on each that i cant seem to get off. anyone have any ideas on what to do, any other programs that work better than isobuster. any info is appreciated!

I'm having a similar problem although mine is with video recorded on DVD in a camcorder. I've been down the Isobuster path and got partial success. Although Isobuster is NOT successfully reading the bad sectors it is just filling the blanks. It has taken days and many tries to try to get the content from bad sectors transferred but so far no luck.

You say your files are from a data DVD? What kind of files?

Right now, out of desperation, I'm trying DurableCopy. Google it.

    Good luck!

I would try some different brands of DVD media next time. Or give your brother a new burner for Christmas. If the data is messed up by CRC errors, there's not much you can do. Sometimes using a different DVD reader can help. Some do a better job with out of spec discs than others.

Most programs like ISOBuster or DVD Decrypter will just end up skipping over the bad parts. Not a big deal with video if you are missing a second or two, but it's deadly for a data or program file.

One other thing to watch out for: If you have 6 consecutive failures when attempting to read discs, Windows may reset your reader/burner to PIO mode. This will really slow down the drive.

I'm holding out some hope for stem cell research.

Isobuster and DurableCopy did not help.
