Hi, I haven't got a std alone DivX player but a family member has one and I wanted to give them some UDF/ISO DVD discs containing Divx Movies but the audio is encoded in dts or ac3 DVM and I don't know whether it will work or not on their player. All I know is that each film must not exceed the space of 2gb. thx

At the mo, I'm testing the discs using PowerDVD 7 - is this equivalent to a std alone dvd player? OR if I got MOST of the AV Codecs it will play anyway?? regardless of what it supports?

No, not the equivalent of a Divx/DVD player.

The information in the link that follows is specifically about the Philips DVP 642 but many other players have similar limitations:

I'd avoid UDF for a start. Also cheap players tend to lack DTS decoders, so unless they have a separate receiver there won't be any audio.

Hi, many thx for above quick replies. The guide was very helpful and dts decoder on a std dvd player was also a warning sign of no audio output at play, thx again.
