I'm trying to convert a wmv format file so that my DVD player will recognize it.
I have a Yamaha DVS5350 player & my DVD burner uses DVD+R format.
What foramt do I need to convert my WMV to in order for the DVD player to read it?

If it is not Divx certified then you need to convert it to a DVD. See What is DVD (top left corner of this page) for compliant framerates and resolutions.

What are the specs of the current file ? (framerate/resolution etc)

wmv is one of the worst source materials for DVD.
Load the wmv in latest VirtualDubmpg2, do your resizing in VD, and frameserve to your mpg2 encoder.

if your pc will run 'super' software then bung the wmv file in that and choose mpeg vcd as the output option, burn this to a regular cdr (if it comes out at under 650Mb) most dvd players will play mpeg files ok. It works for me on a phillips DVD player everytime
