no, no easy way to edit the text. you need to demux to text subtitles, subrip, and then edit them, subtitle workshop, and then reauthor , muxman.

I personally use a DVD ripper to take all the video with the subtitles, then use Subrip to turn it into text form (usually SRT, i.e. subrip format). THEN edit with Subtitle Workshop, then reauthor, but one at a time.

Try Subrip on your existing movie first, see what it pulls out. Try a few. Once you get it, then play with Subtitle Workshop a bit. Once your'e happy, THEN play with reauthoring with Muxman.

    Thanks, this is quite fun

I have used SubRip to get the subtitle to an SRT-file, and then I saved that file and opened it in Subtitle Workshop. Now I have done all the changes that I wanted, and my next step is to try this Muxman. Only thing is that I don’t know the program or what it is used for, what do you guys mean by reauthoring?

  6. You have to put the pieces back together again, the video, audio, chapters, and subtitles. If your movie isn't in elementary streams already (separate audio, video, chapters, subs), then demux using PGCDemux first before reauthoring using Muxman. You'll need the subtitles in SUP format (or SST) if you're going to use Muxman. If you want to use the subs in SRT format then DVDAuthorGUI, among other programs, can reauthor it. It has its own requirement for chapters format, though.

The files are in VOB, BUP and IFo, do I still need to use PGCDemux to do this elemtary streams thing? I have tryed PGCDemux but it cant open the original files...

    Give me a guide please!

If you're going to author using Muxman, as kschang (and I) recommends, then it accepts only elementary streams. If you try and open the IFO in PGCDemux, and it can't open it, then there's something wrong with the DVD, I'd say. So, maybe take MOVIEGEEK's suggestion.

VOBEdit worked! But I followed the guide and when all was done the resulting files/movie wouldn't play... I will try it again tomorrow, maybe I did something wrong.

    What do you mean?
In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

Can the subtitles that are changed be saved on the dvd that they were ripped from? Or can they only be saved on a blank one? If so...I'm totally lost. Please help...

  14. You'll have to reauthor the DVD, or, in your words, saved on a blank one. The instruction for doing that were given earlier in the thread.
