In the past I was able to run my vhs output through my digital camcorder and use windows movie maker to put it on my hard drive. I then used dvdsanta to burn to dvd. I had some harddrive problems and lost my paid for copy of dvdsanta. I tried using a freeware program called vso DivX to dvd. The movies are over 2 hours and this program doesn't work. Is there any other freeware that will do what I want. I only have a few vhs movies so I don't want to buy software if I don't have to

AVI2DVD will do it with rudimentary menus

Personally, if I were doing this on a $0 budget, I would use HCEnc to encde the avi video to mpeg2, ffmpeggui to encode the avi audio to AC3, and GUIforDVDAuthor to create menus and author the disc. I would finish off by burning with imgburn 2. All the software is free, and proven to perform.

  3. I've been searching and searching all over for a decent application to help me get my VHS/Camcorder video to DVD and this post finally lays it out! Thanks guns1inger. I just hope that this does what I want. Why does this stuff have to be so confusing!
