What would happen if all humans disappeared from the Earth?

It would be the best thing that ever happened (in my opinion).

Well... Humans are the most destructive parasite on the planet. So it would be good for the planet, but bad for humans. IMO, we just need to procreate less.

Humans are the reason the Earth exists. If the only creature intellegent enough to appreciate it dies off, it no longer matters what happens to the Earth.
To say more than that would mean violating the forum rules by making religious and/or political commentary.

concrete would last longer than 1000 years (if it is done proper)

glass would not degrade in 50,000 years

a lot of endangered species would still die out -- species die out all the time ..... the two largest die offs of life on earth happened before man was even around ,,,,,

not very realistic -- sounds like terrorist propaganda to me

  9. Do you all remember some years back when a certian cult thought that a UFO was going to come to earth and take them away, and they all comitted suicide?

I though that was a very strange and weird point in history, but this idea that "all humans are evil and must die" that's sweeping across the world, (it was thought up by Humans mind you) really takes the cake.

I mean, really, who thinks up this stuff?
Mass suicide is never a good idea...

To think the earth exists solely for humans is preposterous. The other creatures are just as entitled to the planet as we are.

Humans were put on this planet to control all aspects. Try to converse with a cockroach, dog or cat. Get real. We are here for a reason.

Speciesism: The view that members of the species Homo sapiens are superior to members of every other species simply because human beings belong to one's own (the "superior") species. For there is no "superior" species. To think otherwise is to be no less predjudiced than racists or sexists.

The answer is simple...so a human can eat.

No, that's why animals exist. Not why they're entitled to the planet.

    Tree huggers...

It's not the fact that we're homo sapiens that makes us superior it the simple fact that we're discussing this shit that makes us so. Find me a turnip that can argue along and I'll treat it as an equal.

Many creatures were here millions of years before us: fish, birds, rodents, crocodiles (to name a few). These same creatures will likely be here long after humans are gone (assuming we don't totally screw things up). Some scientists have even suggested dolphins may be more intelligent than humans. (Heck, my dog is smarter than half the people I work with.) To think others creatures exist soley for us to exploit them is antediluvian.

No, I'm not a tree hugger, a vegan or an animal rights activist. I simply believe humans need to respect and protect the planet, not screw it up. We need to practice generosity rather than greed, and have respect for all our brothers and sisters. This is a philosophical view, not a religious view.

Instead of asking, "Why are the other creatures entitled to the planet?" We should be asking, "Why do humans think they have the right to screw things up?"

Before humans the animals did not even have names.

I thought the whole point of this thread was to point out how we're screwing it up...

You're confusing scientists with activists. True scientists wouldn't be drawing conclusions without empirical data.

I'm assuming your joking. You can't really believe that your dog can do your coworkers jobs.

You realize that the word itself is meaningless without the acceptance of the biblical accounts of history.

So, do so. Have a little respect for those that don't believe that everything we do is an attempt to screw up the planet. It is a very sick and small minority of people that are deliberately trying to screw up the planet. Most people are just trying to live their lives and get ahead in the world. Some can be accused of thoughtless acts that have detrimental effects, but history shows us that humans do learn from their mistakes and make corrections in their actions.

These two questions are not mutually exclusive and you still haven't answered the first. The second question is poorly worded, but the answer is religious in nature and would be a violation of the forum rules.
