So, I've been taking some of the anime on my HD, which are mostly in MKV, and extracting the subs and hardsubbing them as well as re-encoding them with the xvid codec instead of h264. Anyways, I've used XviD4PSP to do 4 episodes which came out great, then when I started on the 5th episode it didn't work. It would encode the video to about 70-80% and would say "xvid_encraw.exe has encountered a problem" I would press ok and it would then do the audio and the file would come out. When I played the file up to around 70-80% the video stops but the audio continues. No clue why, I've looked on their support forums and people have had similar problems and I have already tried the solutions posted.

Since XviD4PSP failed me I went to Avidemux...It was worse, Avidemux would encode then suddenly just disappear and leave me with a 80-100 mb file that couldn't be played nor was it recognized as a video file.

I think this has to do something with my computer but I can't figure out what I've done wrong/different recently. Anyone have any idea as to whats wrong?
I'm running Windows XP SP3, 1gb ram, Intel Pentium D.

Well the first thing I would try would be another episode, one you've done that was successfull. That would help determine if it's just this specific episode rather than a system problem.

  3. Xvid4Psp works for me but the menu and button text is incredibly small and blurry. Anyone know how to fix that? Some .Net setting somewhere I imagine.

Yes, but the appearance is the same whether it's enabled or not. This is what I see:

I've tried another anime series and it seems fine. What's puzzling me is the fact that I've already encoded four episodes that worked fine. The fifth one is from the same fansub group and I would assume it would work like the other ones.

  7. The_Jelly, sorry I hijacked your thread, but do you see a normal sized menu bar in Xvid4PSP?

Regarding your issue: As a test try using a different compression codec with your problematic source. If the problem continues it is likely there is something wrong with the decoding of the source. If the problem goes away it's likely a bug in the compression codec (xvid). In the end though, this doesn't really help you.

Try running the problem one through this first:

    http://www.alexander-noe.com/video/amg/

    Quickstart

    1. Add all source files you need
    2. select video source file (or files, if you want to concatenate several AVI files to one) and click "generate data source"
    3. select all audio streams you want to include
    4. start

@MysticE - That's for muxing is it not? Everyone time I generate source data it says error, and that I need to add video/audio.
@Jagabo - I will try that and report back.

It's for 'fixing' also. Add your MKV, highlite it-> Generate, then Start. If it won't take it it's probably a bad file.

@MysticE - Ok, I did it, and I guess it "fixed" it. When I play the MKV the subs are not centered...I think it fucked it up kinda....
@Jagabo - I think its the file itself now. I just tried encoding a episode I already encoded sucessfully, so its probably the file itself. I've even re-downloaded the episode from the original torrent still the same problem.

  13. Thank u a lot. I successfully installed v. 5 but if I try to run the program it says: XviD4PSP has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. Before (a month ago) it was working fine. Version 4 is working, but v. 5 can't run. Any idea?
