    an online mate on mines can get 5x 700mb avi file on 1 DVD. an play it on his standalone DVD player but no subtitle he doesn't need them.

    I use CovertXtoDVD is there anyway to do the same along with subtitles put more than 2-4 full movies approx 700mb on on 1 DVD?

    AVI compresses much better than does MPEG-2. Most people say you'll need 3 times the AVI size when converting to MPEG-2, give or take. If you're starting with a 700 MB AVI, you'll need 2 GB or more to get a somewhat similar quality DVD movie. Remember that AVI usually is resized down from the original DVD, and has fewer pixels to encode than does the original. When converting back to MPEG-2, you're increasing the number of pixels needing encoding, and thus upping the size requirement.

    You could always do like your "mate" and buy yourself a DVD/MPEG-4 player. Then you, too, can put 5 AVIs on a DVDR (6 if all 700 MB). If you buy one that supports subtitles, then you'll have him beat.
