I have some old Hi-8 tapes that are about 10 years old. The audio is perfect, but the video has dissappeared. Is it possible to recover the video?
Thanks,
Frank

Have you tried the tapes in other machines? Maybe the video head in the one you're trying is bad.

The camcorder that I'm using to play back the old hi-8 tapes does work when I record and then play back on newer hi-8 tapes. The old hi-8 tapes only show a white picture(not snow or ant races, just plain white).

Try a different camcorder.

White means a strong saturated video signal. You most likely has a broken camcorder.

ok, since I have a strong video signal, then I just need to find a good hi-8/8mm player...correct?
-
hopefully that works.
Hi8 used different FM deviation frequencies than 8mm. You need a Hi8 capable player.Recommends: Kiva.org - Loans that change lives.
