HDTV2DVD Crash on startup

Any ideas why HDTV2DVD will not start ? It simply says

I've seen prior posts on this, but no resolution. I've tried v0.4 and v0.41. SVCD2DVD works fine.

What happens if you choose "Cancel"? Also what version is this?

Of course, now I've reported it I can't reproduce the problem ! However, it has been going on for some time - I would have it working and then I'd suddenly get the crash. Last night I uninstalled and reinstalled in a different directory and it now works. I uninstalled again and reinstalled in the original directory, and it works. I am fairly confident it will stop working soon - when it does I'll press Cancel and let you know what happens
