on this groups rec. I added 3ivx to my QT 6 on my G4duals OS 1.3.8
on my MP I have qt7. there does not seem to be a 3ivx component for this, correct?
I have yet to buy the QT Pro for QT 7 or the compoment for MPEG2.
I have Miglia MiniHD and its great.
in the past on the analog AlchemyDVR in the G4 Id record TV and export to 3ivx with MPEG4 sound I think and get a 20 min program into about 150MB 320 x 240 2ivx. these files started out about 2GB for 28 min analog TV
the HDTV files for the same type of show are about 875 MB Video MPEG-2, 720x480, 29.97fps dolby digital 48 hz 28 min.
the Miglia comes with eyeTV editing but I have yet to figure out how to get a similar size (150MB) 320x240 as I have in the past as 3ivx does not seem to be an option.
any help much appreciated
cheers

I am not sure what your query is, but 3ivx is not compatible with Core Video, and so screws up with QT7 under OS X 10.4 Tiger, unless you're using a player which gives the option to not use Core Video, such as Niceplayer. If you're still using Panther, maybe it will be alright, worth a go, I guess.
But in any case, although the encodes are slow, H.264 is much better quality, and I long ago stopped using 3ivx. ffmpegX does a good job of H.264, or Handbrake if you can author the files as DVDs. Or Toast. Just set the image size you want and away you go.Go off and rule the universe from beyond the grave. Or check into a psycho ward, whichever comes first, eh? -
You can export directly from eyeTV into a divx, mp4 or h642 file.

The EyeTV export function is very useful, but it does rely on Apple's implementation of the various QT codecs. The MPEG4 implementation is weak - which is why 3ivx was viable when it competed against Apple's version of MPEG4. Similarly, I am not so convinced by their version of H.264, with the x264 version used in ffmpegX superior, I think, certainly in terms of encode speed.
There is a version of x264 as a QT plugin, although it was a bit buggy last time I tried.Go off and rule the universe from beyond the grave. Or check into a psycho ward, whichever comes first, eh?
