There doesn't seem to be a better spot for this... so here goes.

A while back I seem to have bought a ton of Stomper adhesive labels for CDs/DVDs. After running out an inkjet cart or two, and having a bubbly one try to take off inside my drive, I kinda lost interest.

So I just opened a drawer and there's all these labels that cost me more than I care to throw out.

Anybody got a good alternative use for these?

Sure, use them on the outside of your DVD cases instead of inserts. And this would probably be better in the computer forum. Moving you.

  4. There was a big debate long time ago about using sticky labels. Lots of people thought it is not a good idea and had all kinds of explanation from scientific to experience. I personally always used them and now after so many years never had any problem. I use hi gloss sticky labels and look beautiful no need for spray or anything. The main thing is you have to center them Accurately with a capital A and that is not easy. I made a gadget to center them. The gadget you can buy is only for the big hole only, so you have to make your own. The majority will say stay away from it. This was a recap of all those that I read and experimented myself. At the most you let it sit in the water and remove the label. I emphesis again centering well and sticking without ruining the adhesive with finger prints or else will seems to last a long time so far.

I like the full-face versions of these cd/dvd labels.

I'm familiar with the Neato fixture - but I also had problems with it.

But one fixture I got some time back - called the Avery AfterBurner. This device is more 'spring-like' and has a spongelike pad on top that isn't flat, but curved downwards.
Has a center post upwards on the top.

Basically, you lay the label sticky side up over and down this post so the label lays on the pad. Then place the disc (data side up) on the post and lay it down gently on the label.

Then press down on the center post and disc - the pad & fixture flexes upward pressing label to disc in one smooth motion - from center towards outer edges.

I've never had a bad label/disc with this. If anyone's interested, I'll try and post a pic of it.

Infratom- thanks for the reply! I have a couple hundred of'em; both Fellowes & Stomper- mebbe 50 bucks invested. The trouble I had was getting the peel to start releasing from the substrate. That left a tiny uneven area where I was picking at it. Spin was about 24X back then.
Was thinking about making political bumper stickers with'em!:]

PainK- well, I'd like to see it. You are using them on DVDs? I use the 8X ones from OfficeMax, they seem to work great and dirtcheap, but the top varnish seems mighty thin- not comfortable writing directly on them.
Should mention we have terrific humidity changes here (Michigan is surrounds by the Great Lakes).

    heh

And Baltimore is at the tip of Chesapeake Bay - Fresh water at the top, gets saltier towards the bottom of the bay. And I know about humidity, having come from Lake Erie area and relatives in Detroit.

SInce it's dark evening right now, I'll see about taking a picture tomorrow and posting it afterwards.

I'd use them as cup coasters.

    Sorry for the delay.
