Maxell just make some of the discs sold under tha brand Maxell. What's the Media ID? (DVDInfo Pro)
May be so simple that your writer doesn't support that disc. Possibly a firmware upgrade will help.

If your drive is an older drive, it will may not identify newer 16x media. You may need a firmware update. Check your drive manufacturer's website to see if you are up to date.

Not all drive manufacturers are responsive in providing firmware updates.

I had okay luck with ProDiscs's but still have changed to Taiyo Yuden because I couldn't reliably burn beyond 4300 MB 100% of the time (not so much an issue with TY media).

The last Dynex drive that I had my hands on was made by BTC. I was even able to update the firmware using BTC's support. You won't find much help at Dynex's website, though.

I googled it to determine the exact model: The drive specifications listed on BTC's website were a great help also.

I did make certain the drive was the exact same BTC drive before I flashed it!
