I want to setup a network but need advice on buying a wireless router and wireless adapter card. It needs to be easy to set up, good support for a dummy like me and decent range. Router will be set up upstairs and the second computer will be in my basement. My brother bought a D-Link DI-624 and seems to like it but I've also been looking at others like D-Link DIR-625, Belkin Pre-N, Belkin N1, and a Netgear Rangemax 240, does anyone have any opinions of these or any others? Please also recommend an adapter card to go with the router. If I went with the Belkin router I wouldn't want to use the matching adapter card because it's too expensive.

  2. If you are accessing the internet, then get the wireless router/modem from the provider, then use couple of USB wireless adapters( Compusa stuff work fine ), because you can position them to get the better reception.

Or else buy the same brands of router, and adapter. So you won't get incompatibility. Buffalo is pretty good.

Lotsa good setup info, & features D-Link. Here's a sample para:
Before beginning the installation process, you may need a few bits of information to set up your router correctly. Double-click the Network Connections icon within Control Panel and right-click the icon for your PC’s Ethernet adapter. Then choose Properties > Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) > Properties. If “Use the following IP address” is highlighted, your Internet access uses a static IP address. Jot down the IP address, the subnet mask, and the default gateway. Then click “Obtain an IP address automatically.” Click OK to apply your changes and OK again to close the dialog.
