What's got to be one of the quotes of the year.

Scorsese said he had had no particular problems with Warner Bros. Pictures, the studio behind the film, but that he was finding it harder and harder to work on big productions, and felt Hollywood studios restricted the creativity of directors
Wow. You wanted to be creative? Then why did you take the job of directing a REMAKE in the first place?

He said Warner had been supportive and patient as he shot "an experimental film like 'The Departed'
How is this experimental? The movie already exists. All you're doing is duplicating it with American actors and in English.

I'm sick of all these people who are paid ungodly amounts of money for doing some of the easiest jobs around and all they do is complain about it.
    His name was MackemX

What kind of a man are you? The guy is unconscious in a coma and you don't have the guts to kiss his girlfriend?

George Lucas was recently quoted as saying that the blockbuster is dead and he won't be making big films any more. I'm sure it had nothing to do with the fact that the last three films he directed were critically universally panned.

I wouldn't say that directing is an easy job, however many directors and actors, like most professional sport-people are well over paid. If they got paid wages instead of fees, bonuses etc, then the average film wouldn't have to make 4 times it's cost just to break even, and would be way more likely to show profit.

Sorry, my mistake. The loss of profits can only be attributed to piracy of DVDs and cinema releases.

    ?????

Sure there were many critics but they made tons of money too!?!?!??!?!?! It wasn't like they didn't rake it in with the prequels you know - episodes 1 and 3 are still in the top 10 all time grossers the last time I checked....
Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?

Well, he is always ignored by the academy... I feel badly for him for that one reason and that one reason alone.

While his technical achievements behind the scenes are extraordinary, he is, as a writer and director, a moderate talent at best. ILM as been recognised many times, and there will be a life time acheivement award for service to the industry eventually, but nothing he has written or directed is oscar worthy.

That said, how often do the academy get it right anyway ? I still can't believe Training Day got the gong. It was a Steven Seagal film with a more expensive cast.
