I need to get video from the SVIDEO out on my computer to the TV in my living room, I am going to have to run a cable through the attic and it would be no more than maybe 50 feet. I am looking for something that might have an SVIDEO and regualar computer speaker hookup on one end and maybe a coax or RCA jacks on the other end. Any ideas?

Running S-video 50 feet is pushing it, but considering the more complex and expensive options, I think I would try it. I don't know that you could get a 50 foot S-Video cable, though. You could make one up or have it made by getting a 7 conductor shielded cable and attaching the ends. (I think it's seven conductor, I haven't checked lately. )

The audio would have to be run separately. I wouldn't try to run line level audio from the computer card. I think you would end up with a overly weak signal and a lot of hum. Run it into a amplifier first, then just use regular speakers on the other end.

I'm not sure why you would want coax or RCA jacks on the other end if you are using S-video.

Alternatives are use a RF modulator and a single coax, but you wouldn't have S-video, just composite. From there the alternatives get expensive. You could send it over a LAN and convert it back at the TV.

What's your budget? You can get wireless video senders for under $100.

x10.com is selling one for $50, though it seems to be composite only, not S-video.

I am actually returning a wireless solution.

When I hooked it up it had all these lines running across the TV, I called the company and they asked if I had WiFi in the house, I said yes and she told me I have to turn it off for it to work.

I will have to check out X10.[/list]

  6. They were both on 2.4 ghz. That's why I returned my x10 and bought a couple of 5.7 GHZ units. They work great!
