I have a wedding DVD that I am making a copy of. I used Nero 6.6.0.13 to copy & burn the DVD. When it finishes the DVD shows as blank on my PC (windows explorer) and Nero INFOTOOL and will not play on PC but plays on my standalone DVD player. The same thing happened when I ripped the IFOs, VOBs & BUPS from the original and burned it that way. The original has the following files on it.

    WEDDING_TEMPLATE.layout
    VIDEO_TS.BUP
    VIDEO_TS.IFO
    VIDEO_TS.VOB
    VOB_DATA.LAY
    VTS_01_0.BUP
    VTS_01_0.IFO
    VTS_01_0.VOB
    VTS_01_1.VOB
    VTS_01_2.VOB

Why does it no show or play on my PC?

    Thanks

Is that the contents of the VIDEO_TS folder? The .layout and the .LAY files seem to be unusual. See 'WHAT IS' DVD to the upper left for the DVD format and specifications. <<<<<<

Probably a lot of ways to try to fix it. You could just run it through DVD Shrink and see if it can output a compliant file. If the DVD video is small enough to fit on a DVD-5, Shrink shouldn't mess with the quality or 'shrink' it again.

Or you could just pull the VOBs out and use IFOEdit to generate the rest of the DVD format and see it that fixes it. You may lose the menus with either method. But if it won't copy or play, that may not be so important.

Do you know what program created the original DVD?

I agree with you about those files. I have burned many DVDs and the only files I have seen were the VOB, IFO and BUP.

I will try your different suggestion but I do not want to lose the menu. I do not know what program created the original.

I did a search on the .LAY and .LAYOUT and it looks like it may be Adobe.

Shrink might work for you for a simple way. It should just clean up the format and make them compliant, hopefully. You should still be able to retain the menus. Worth a try, anyway. If that doesn't work, other members can probably suggest better methods.

I'm guessing the problem is with corruption or non-standard DVD formatted files. If the VOBs are complete and OK, you should be able to reproduce the DVD in it's proper format with all menus, etc., intact.

redwudz, sorry I haven't got back to this post. I appreciate your help. I have been out of town. It seems like it may not be a format problem. for some reason after i burn a dvd i lose my burner. it shows in explorer as the drive letter but canot be read. if i reboot the problem goes away. i will have to do some research a try to find out why this is happening. thanks for your help
