Buy a laptop with S-Video out or make a HTPC out of an old PC:
$50USD for a second hand PC and $35 for a videocard with S-Video out.

I have never tried any of this all of my computers that I use have video or s-video outs.

Most likely your computer didn't include video outs to save space, but in my experience most laptops have video outs. I researched your model number and it doesn't have video outs so the links are your best bet.
    snappy phrase

    I don't know what you're talking about.

It also has crappy Intel graphics, which might struggle. I have a toshiba that is less than 2 years old. It has s-video, and provides a pretty nice picture on the TV - if it directs all output to the TV. If I have the output split between the LCD and the TV, the display jerks and stutters.

  9. Make sure to set the video display to 800x600/60Hz/16bit before connecting to the TV.

I think its because too high of a resolution makes it hard to see the graphics on the tv. I've had it set up pretty high when I've hooked my desktop up to small 13" tvs. It's really hard to make anything out.

Using smaller resolutions will make it easier to see the icons on your tv. Don't expect it to be easy to type a full report on the tv instead of the laptop. Unless you have a high res hdtv. Even then the laptop is still easier to read for text work.

    BUT video will look fine.

Because you might damage your TV if you set any higher than 60Hz/16bit,also as Yoda said any res. higher than 800x600 makes the icons and text hard to read.

Wish i could find a CHEAP device to output my Laptop's video onto a Tv. But don't want to spend like, $40-$60, on a PC-to-TV converter. Oh well....

This one posted does look good. I like how its USB powered and appears compact. Nice!

if you search on ebay for pc to tv, you can find REALLY cheap cords that seem to be able to make the connection. they are for like, $1. But I have no idea about the quality. does someone want to try to help me decide if it is worth this $1 cord to watch a downloaded show from my computer on my TV through this cord? how big of a difference does the $50 thing make?

    thanks for any input
