Did someone tell you they did ?
Because as far as i know they don't read dvd-ram disc's.

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.asp?DEPA=0&type=&Description=NEC+nd-3550a&Su...o.x=15&Go.y=33

    Newegg list's the ND-4570A as reading & writing dvd-ram,

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.asp?DEPA=0&type=&Description=NEC+dvd-ram&Sub...o.x=21&Go.y=30

But i use 2 dedicated TOSHIBA SD-M1712's for reading ram as i only use dvd-ram for recording on my standalone dvd recorder.

Maybe with one of the Liggy's and Dee's firmwares they could because supposedly you can crossflash among different drives. I have not tried it and wouln't risk it though.

Dvd-ram is a diff. format, you can't adapt something to read it with firmware.
It's like trying to read a dvd in a cd-rom drive, it's not happenin'.

  5. Even if it did, youd have to secure a driver for it.
