    I'm going to buy Philips DVP 5960 DVD player, but since English is not my native language I will be using subtitles a lot, so could you tell me if this player shows decent subtitles - font, size, etc. Are the subtitles placed on the black stripe (for movies with 2.4:1 AR). Thank you very much in advance.

    Where and how the subtitle look, is according to setup encoded in the DVD itself, and not depends on the DVD player.

    I'm sorry, but I didn't specify that I was asking about DivX, XviD subtitles (extensions .srt .sub .txt .ssa etc)
