  1. I have a 224meg 640x480 DivX AVI. I need to get that file under 100meg for posting on a web site (myspace). I don't care if I have to resize it to 320x200, or whatever, I just need it under 100meg. I've tried using Virtual Dub to resize to 320x200 thinking the file size would be smaller but unfortunatly, unlike images, smaller frame size doesn't mean smaller file size. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Bitrate x runtime = size. Universal equation for video encoding, be it mpeg2, mpeg4 or any other format.

Resizing the image down usually means you can reduce the bitrate required, which in turn will reduce the file size. Go back to virtualdub, resize your video to an appropriate resolution, and when you save, use a lower bitrate. Better still, use a bitrate calculator. Enter the running time of your video, the bitrate of the audio, and a custom target size of 98mb. It will tell you exactly what bitrate you need to use to make it fit.

Or split the file into multiple parts and not loose any quality. HJsplit works well.
