Hi,
Could you please advise what tool would be the best to rip off the sound from avi or DVD (AC3). After that to encode it from AC3 to MPEG and put it back on avi or DVD.
I browsed the tools. There are so many of them and it’s all very confusing.

avi, virtualdubmod, stream->stream list and select the audio track and save as wav or demux. Convert to mpeg1 with for example ffmpeggui. Use virtualdubmod to add it back again.
dvd, dvddecrypter or rejig (demultiplex the video and audio from the vobs). Convert the ac3 to mpeg1 with ffmpegui. Add it back with an authoring tool like muxman.
