I installed cuttermaran and printed the guide. I followed all the steps about downloading cuttyenc and where to zip it to, and finally the configure step. I believe I did it all right.
When I go to open a clip to edit the folders shows empty. I went to change the setting below to “all files” but it only allows certain types to open. I thought that’s what the cuttyenc thing was for. All my files should be mpeg2.
I need help figuring how to open!

You need elementary streams, video and audio separated streams. You can demultiplex / split the mpeg2 with tmpgenc (under file->mpeg tools) or projectx or pvastrumento.

So lets see if I get this straight I take my captured file, run it thru project x, then take that output and load it into cuttermaran to so that I can trim the file
Basically what I’m trying to do is if I have a capture file on my PC I want to be able to put the file on a disc to get it off my pc. So I need to “break” the file into pieces that fit on a disc. I am not trying to make a watchable dvd, just file storage for now.

yes, if you want to trim with cuttermaran you must demultiplex.

if it's too much trouble get another cutting tool like videoredo...not free though.

I use PVAStrumento (freeware) to demux and input that into Cuttermaran. Works like a charm everytime (so far).
