  1. Hi
I currently made a dvd out of 3 vcds. it ran sucessfully. i also tested it on my DVD player which is connected to TV Directly via RCA cable it works fine with good sound. However i have also connected my dvd player to my Yamaha 7.1 Amp via optical cable, now while i watch it through my amp then there is no sound. fiddled with the audio button on dvd remote but no luck.

What kind of audio, ac3,mpeg,pcm ? If mpeg audio you probably need to change the dvd player to output the mpeg audio as pcm or similiar.

  3. Wel they were vcds, so audio must be in mpeg 1. how do i convert to pcm or ac3 in TDA

  4. In TDA, click on the track properties, and check encoding to mp2. TDA will resample the audio to 48KHz.

    For setup :
    1. Sony coaxial/optical audio output should set to bit stream, so the Yamaha amp has the digital data to work with.

    2. You may want to go thru the Yamaha manual. On some surround amp, the user need to choose a surround simulation mode, for stereo playback.

As singsing says ....the digital output from your sony player needs to be set to bitstream ... however this may actually just be named as 'RAW' or 'DIGITAL' (it has been on the 3 players i've had to date) .... go into the menu on your player and navigate to audio options (or similar) there should be a setting for the digital output ... usual option are pcm/analogue and bitstream/raw/digital ... but they may be named slightly different
