AVI on DVD skipping

I recently bought a Diamond DVD player that plays AVI. I have tried several different types of media including Memorex and Maxell +R and RW. Towards the last 1/3 of each show it starts skipping every once and awhile. It does not freeze but jumps instead. Why would this be happenning, and why usually only towards the end of the AVI?

I am burning with NERO as a data file.

Is the original file a Varible bite rate (VBR) video or audio ?

Try converting it all to constant bite rate (CBR)

Nero sometimes, especially with audio, will burn the file but when VBR audio is involved it will collapse the file where little or no data is found, Producing a skipping effect.
