hello, folks! i have a question about these two tools that probably has been answered somewhere in these forums but i simply can't find the exact answer i'm looking for. so, i apologize if i am duplicating effort.

i have two neat programs: dvd shrink and titlewriter which both have good reviews. however, even after reading guides and other posts, i can't do some simple tasks and was wondering if i can do those things using these two tools.

what i would like to do is create a dvd with several titles (from dvds i have taped myself, etc.), either from one dvd or several. i can make the structure easily using dvd shrink. however ...

i there a way for me to make a very simple text menu (no graphics needed) which lists the name of each title with a link to go directly to each one? for example, when the dvd is placed into a dvd player, this shows up (example):

    --

    Scott's DVD

    1 - Christmas in 1999
    2 - Trip to Mexico
    3 - Child's school awards

    --

i think with titlewriter i can make a generic menu but i can't get the text of each one on the menu, that's my main "want".

if anyone can help, that would be great.

    thanks!

  2. AFAIK Titlewriter may do simple menu's but the main reason for titlewriter is to add title info to the DVD that will display on the LCD display of DVD changers. It works a treat with my Sony 400 Disc changer, Many thanks to the author! Using titlewriter allows me to have the title display on the units screen and it will even scroll it if too long. Second important functions once the DVD is played the title generated on the DVD by titlewriter is added into the player so I can later browse by title.

Maybe you should be using a authroing application such as TDA 1.5 or 1.6 where the trial versions do not put a watermark the menu.

    Good Luck
