  1. I want to re-encode a mpeg file from 8500 bit rate to 6500 bitrate
using Procoder Express. It is PAL 16X9 720 x 576.
My end result is much more stretch horizontally than the original.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Are you setting your target to 16x9 (assuming the "It is PAL 16x9 720x576" statement is describing the source) or vice-versa?

Have you confirmed that your source is also set to 16:9

  5. I check the source is also set at 16x9 but the "display is 540x576"

  6. In the source window it states the Video aspect ratio is 64:27.
Can this be edited? I don't know where the Procoder get these numbers.
I convert file in Mainconcept and it was fine I just want to do a comparsion
    between the 2 software.

I have exact the same problem, my source is 540 x 576 and, on Procoder, if crop 72 lines up and bottom and resize to 720 x 576 I get the horizontal bars with the double size of the original 4x3 LB source....I mean, I get the opposite result, I wanna get rid of the black bars but they appear with the double size

With sources 720 x 576 everything runs fine on Procoder (cutting 72 up and down and resizing works perfectly)

Does anyone have an idea on how to fix that on Procoder ?

    Thanks,

    Zetti

You don't have true PAL source, you have some half-assed digital cable recording or similar. Can you post a few seconds of footage somewhere so I can have a look and play ?

    Thanks guns !

Well, my first thought was to resize it to 720 x 576, and start from there, I mean, I would be starting from a "compliant" source. As I said, I have just worked on another video that was already 720 x 576 and cropping 72 up and down and resizing worked perfectly, so...

I tried that on Procoder, to feed the "uncompliant" movie and create a new correct one. Then, I would quit Procoder, load it again with a new project, feed in the "compliant" video and it should work like the other video...

No, it hasn't worked, don't really know why
Again, I still had doubled black bars

So, I headed up to AVSynth and tried this:

    LoadPlugin("F:\Programas_direto\dgmpgdec148\DGDeco de.dll")
    Mpeg2Source("G:\Robert_Cray_Bellinzona_2000\AVS\Cr ay_PAL.d2v")
    Lanczos4Resize(720,576)
    crop(0,72,-0,-72)
    Lanczos4Resize(720,576)

Fed this into Procoder and...it didn't work either
    Again, the doubled black bars

Then, I tried feeding THIS into Procoder:

    LoadPlugin("F:\Programas_direto\dgmpgdec148\DGDeco de.dll")
    Mpeg2Source("G:\Robert_Cray_Bellinzona_2000\AVS\Cr ay_PAL.d2v")
    Lanczos4Resize(720,576)
    crop(0,72,-0,-72)

I mean, I fed into Procoder the CROPPED movie but UNRESIZED.......

    IT WORKED !

    Procoder saw the source as 720 x 432 and up-resized it to compliant 720 x 576.

I am really confused about it all but after one week dealing with these two videos I am happy I have reached somewhere,

Any ideas on how to do it all on Procoder

    Many thanks,

    Zetti
