  1. Hello all,

I've just tried ripping 'The mummy uncut' using dvd2svcd and the Cinema Craft Encoder to two CD-Rs, but have a few questions that I hope someone can help with?

    1) At what point can I remove the actual DVD? Is it needed right to the end or just until the files are copied?

    2) At the end of the process about 18Gb of disk space has been used, is this normal?

    3) How long does the process normally take? It took about 50 hours on a Pentium III 500MHz with 256MB ram and a 40GB 7200rpm disk. Is this normal?

Thankyou very much for any useful replies.

    Pete.

  2. Hmmmm.

Just played the created SVCD but by the end of the first disk the audio doesn't match up with the video. I followed all the directions in the help guide. Also, there are no subtitles or chapters even though I asked for these to be put in.

The two CD's should each contain about an hour (the film was two hours long) but although they do show an hours worth of movie the timer on the 'Minato DVD-G1' player only says 40 minutes at the end.

    Any ideas? Thanks.

That sounds very strange to me....since it works perfectly for me.

Make sure u have the latest build of DVD2SVCD.....

Yes you can take the DVD out of the drive once the rip is completed...(after about 15minutes...DVD read light stops flashing)

18 gig sounds a bit excessive as with the 50 hours...how many passes on the encoding are you doing? any more than 4 is probably overkill....2 hour movie takes about 12 hours total for 4 passes on my 1.2gig athlon....look at the speed of the encoding process....I get .74 real time.....on CCE

good luck....I can not explian your other problems
